Dealing With Our ‘Ninja Minority Element’ In Bicycling

Eric Vann I am in total agreement with your sentiments. But rather than being upset with these two individuals we need to address the reality that some very dedicated cyclists feel that being dressed in reflective or hi-vis outer wear is some form of capitulation to the idea of owning liability for one’s own safety.

The new normal appears to be that you do not put reflective tape or paint spray or anything on your bike and you do not ride with lights or reflectors. You in essence put the onus on drivers to ‘see you’.

I am in thorough disagreement with this nonsense, but since I know many of the readers of Facebook both here in the U.S. and in Great Britain are adamant about the other position it needs to be addressed.
