18-year-old bicyclist in critical condition after Lincolnwood crash

An 18-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was struck by an SUV while riding her bicycle Sunday night in north suburban Lincolnwood.

The bicyclist was heading eastbound on Pratt Avenue and tried to cross McCormick Boulevard against a red light about 8:30 p.m. when she was struck by an SUV, according to a statement from Lincolnwood police.

She was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition.

“The bicyclist was dressed in dark clothing in dark conditions with limited artificial lighting,” police said.

The driver stayed at the scene, police said. No citations or charges had been issued as of Monday afternoon as Lincolnwood police investigate the crash.
