- After man adds warning paint to sunken grate, state roads agency calls it vandalism – BikePortland.org (PDF)
Riddle me this. Evidently the Church of Urban Cycling and its resident Pope took offense at the actions of Volvo in offering ‘free‘ reflective paint for use on bicycles ridden in poor light. The idea was that such a paint application could help save lives.
But the Pope took extraordinary pains to ridicule this effort. Why?
But now we find that members of the that same Church are out painting things bright colors and using reflective paint as well. Why?
If it makes no sense to paint a bike (for safety’s sake) why would it make any more sense to paint a grate?
It is becoming increasingly clear that the kooks of the Urban Cycling Movement are refugees from the Tea Party. Sorry, no vacancies here!
