There’s so much love and good will on the streets of Chicago these days that it literally brings tears to my eyes.

People like to ask what will bring a furtherance of involvement of newbies to the Urban Cycling Community scene? Well all they have to do is read about the wonderful ways in which riding slowly in groups has brought peace and calm to the lives of Chicagoans. If we could bottle all this Good Will and overnight it to places in the Middle East, just imagine how it might transform tomorrow’s headlines?

I am so very proud of Chicago! We know how not only to lock our bikes against theft but even better how to wield our U-Locks in ways that bring about a ‘gush of warmth‘ to the lives of female bus drivers. And like the Lone Ranger and Tonto we Urban Cyclists do not stick around to be identified for our works. We hie ourselves off to our favorite watering holes where we can enjoy the glow of love and camaraderie that we so richly deserve after a day of spreading love and giving ‘nuanced meaning‘ to the Active Transportation Alliance name.

Cheers, guys! For a job well done!

Now all we need to do is convince the Governor that our well-publicized bouts of Kumbaya prove that we cyclists are supportive of our fellow transportation travelers.

How soon will we hear about the next Love Fest to break out between Urban Cyclists and Pedestrians here in the Second City of Brotherly Love?
