Sunday, April 12. Hoover Reservoir Trail Complex (AKA Westerville East) 23 miles.Probably our third favorite local ride. The trail complex includes the Chipmunk Chatter Trail, The Hoover Reservoir Trail, The Towers Trail, the 3C Trail and the Genoa Trail. The 3C and Genoa are rail-trails and will be part of the Ohio-to-Erie Trail. Beyond Plumb Road the Hooverview Trail (?) roller-coasters into Galena where the Heart Of Ohio Trail (HOOT) will connect to Mt. Vernon and the Kokosing Gap Trail.Another great ride. Lin officially announced that it was “a beautiful day”. Temps were cool but comfortable. Lots of sun and a few sunburns. We rode to Plumb Road and not feeling up to the climb back from Galena, we turned around. On the way back we crossed the new County Line Road bridge and took an alternate (!) route back to the Towers Trail. Construction at the reservoir damn entrance forced a detour through the busy intersection. Gene’s air horn came in very handy. That there were no mechanicals is noteworthy as the Maxtown workaround has historically been our Bermuda Triangle. We hadn’t stopped for chow so David, Linda, Bill, Della, Carol and Denny held a post-ride meeting at the Gahanna Grill. Cabbage roll soup, great fries and Fat Tire Ale. Yes, life is good.
