I have no idea what the future holds for spending on bicycle infrastructure. But I am wondering just how forgiving politicians are when their constituencies turn on them?
What does a politician inspired this kind of drivel from his top lieutenants think about the folks who when the times got tough turned their backs. I think that like most mere mortals people in power find that their memories are longer than they would like them to be.
But they are pragmatic. They know how to handle people. But once you have been bitten the hand that feeds you it makes sense to no longer expect filet mignon. Or if you do get any check it carefully for additives.
Just saying. Clearly Chicago’s Urban Cycling Movement is anything but loyal. It is willing to have you do the dirty work of continuing to lay down miles of unnecessary bike lanes knowing full well that teachers are being laid off and schools closed. And yet none of the vaunted ‘whining‘ about this sort of thing at the time. It was as if it never happened.
But suddenly an election rolls around and suddenly the fair weather types are in full regalia and willing to pronounce your untimely demise using a news source like Breitbart.
All I can say is, wow! What a very, very classy thing to do, guys!
