I agree with the premise that language shapes thinking when it comes to movements. That is why it pays for the PeopleForBikes to understand that when you have board members of bicycle advocacy groups with email signatures that read:

we perhaps need to rethink who we are and what we say about ourselves and others. We really need to stop the ‘victimhood‘ efforts that have become part of our language. We are not victims. And we certainly have to stop that sort of imagery when it comes to comparing ourselves to pedestrians.
