Enjoyed leisurely breakfast at Egg Harbor Cafe before heading back to Wheaton College and the new railway underpass. Since my time at Wheaton students always had to wait for trains at the crossing adjacent to the Billy Graham Center Museum. Now that crossing has been redone with an underpass. So we rode it today. But alas I was without my camera so no video. Will get some later this weekend.
Back home we packed an drove back again to REI in Oakbrook. Last night we dropped in and purchased a couple sets of the lights that appear to the right. This is a Planet Bike rear flasher and replaces an older model which was great as well. They are equally bright and have equivalent burn times (∼100 hours). But these lights are about half the size and weight and use 4A batteries rather than the larger and heavier 3A batteries.
Since the REI store did not have as many on hand as we needed we drove into the city to the REI on Halsted and purchased the rest. The it was off to the Native Foods Cafe on Clark Street across from the Caulder Sculpture for luncheon. Enjoyed their Reuben sandwich on rye.
The up to Roscoe Village for Starbucks Coffee and onto the suburbs and home. Nice day of driving.
Dave Ross had a special bit on the Hover Bike being developed and funded via KickStarter.
The Passing of Jean Redpath
On the way home we listened to our standard Saturday evening fare, The Prairie Home Companion. Garrison Keillor made mention of the passing of Jean Redpath.
