Bike Part Vending Machine on the lakefront bike path

Background Reading

Summary

Hurrah! Someone is doing right by cyclists along the Chicago Lakefront Trail. This is great idea which should be transferred to every single trail in Cook and DuPage Counties.

There’s a new vending machine at Lakeshore Bike’s Waveland location on the Chicago lakefront path!

The machine has all sizes of inner tubes, CO2 cartridges, tire levers, gels, locks and just about anything else you might need to finish your ride on the path.  The machine accepts cash and credit cards and is available 24 hours a day!

My hope is that these machines are owned or leased by private bike shops which get to reap the rewards of helping cyclists. It would also be nice if a roving band of mechanics with cargo bikes would patrol trails and sell their services when needed.
