What a difference a few years makes. When last I considered the Nikon Coolpix P7000 it was almost three years ago! Now it has been updated a few times and we have the Nikon Coolpix P7800. The big difference is that the camera has an electronic view finder (EVF) and an articulated LCD screen in the rear.

Oh and I am now much more familiar with the nature of the menu selections available on this camera. This is considered the quintessential tourist camera. It has a 7.1x zoom lens and a popup flash for those situations where a group photo in darker lighting is needed.

Bob Krist is a photographer who has written a lengthy recount of his impressions of the earlier Nikon Coolpix P7000. I have included his blog entry as a PDF. There is also a link to his site as well. What is instructive is the amount of detail and sense of the setting he gets from his images. Pretty impressive for a camera of this class.
