- Salmon fishing (Chicago ChainLink)
I am past tired of white Urban Cyclists who cannot find it within themselves to modify their on-road behaviors but are full of strategies for teaching brown-skinned people the value of knowing their place:
But keep in mind that the fellow who began this particular thread did so in this fashion:

I got him!
Approaching the intersection of Orleans and Ontario from the south, on my way from work just about an hour ago, I saw a cyclist pedaling on the east side of Orleans, getting to the same intersection from the north. Against the traffic. That he didn’t have a headlight goes without saying.
I’ve been in a similar situation several times before, but never had a chance to try this way of dealing with that kind of fish: I slowed down, and kept as close to the curb as I can, forcing the salmon to go around me.
There was enough light still to see the expression on his face.
But Serge is no stranger to looking down on others. Remember this gem from a few threads ago:
Serge represents some of the ‘best’ the ChainLink has to offer. He is a frequent volunteer to do the announcing at each of the Four Star Bike Tours. That means that Active Transportation Alliance ‘likes his act‘. What does this say about the Church of Urban Cycling?
White Journalists Will Not Touch This Topic
Our oily pair at StreetsBlog and Grid Chicago will never touch this topic. They cannot afford to lose either the financial or social backing of their peers. John Grenfield tries to cast himself as a person who can move been different worlds, but he does not have the cojones to take this topic on headlong. He would much rather go after John Kass for offering up observations that are little different from those presented by Urban Cyclists in various threads on the behaviors of Divvy cyclists.
This is a smug, arrogant and dare I say it racist crowd that simply cannot get it into their tiny little minds that you are not allowed to look down on others for doing the same things you do, unless of course you make allowances for yourself based on class privilege or racial superiority. Either way count me out!
