Helen Stam Fesmire grew up the oldest in a family of four girls, and in a large extended family that included many missionaries and other Christian workers. Her family was a great influence on her. Helen graduated from Wheaton College as an English major with a minor in Christian education. While at Wheaton she met her beloved husband, Lloyd Fesmire. They were married and began a life of service to the Lord as pastor and wife.
Helen was a wonderful example of a loving wife, mother to her children and a friend to many. Throughout her life she modeled the gift of hospitality and guests were frequently around their dinner table or overnight in their guestroom. She was a superb cook and homemaker. With her quiet personality, Helen offered a listening ear to many, kept their burdens in her heart, and prayed for them. This was her ministry. Helen and Lloyd shared a burden for the world, and prayed and gave generously to missions.
Helen also was a letter writer and kept up active correspondence with many, as well as writing notes of encouragement frequently.
Helen leaves behind four children with their spouses: Connie and Eric, Dotsie and Gary, Lois and Steve,
Tom and Karla: two sisters: Betty and Marian; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
We her children bless her saying, “… many have done nobly, but you have excelled them all.”
