Evening rush hour in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (a.k.a. Den Bosch) in the Netherlands.
During the winter months rush hour takes place in the dark. This day it also snowed so the road conditions became even worse. But the Dutch don’t cycle any less. No matter how dark, no matter how slippery the streets become the Dutch keep using their bicycles for transport.
For cars none of the streets in this video are through streets. it is a traffic calmed area in the center of town. For cyclists this is the most important through route.
‘s-Hertogenbosch is a provincial capital (pop. 125,000) and the mode share for bicycles is 33%. The city is working hard to increase that number to 44%.
