We loaded up our bikes and headed into the city to ride the Chicago Lakefront and to visit the Thanksgiving Day Parade before heading north to Wicker Park and a 1:30 PM reservation time.

The menu included (click image at right to enlarge graphic image) :

  • The Native Wellington
  • Mushroom Shallot Gravy
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Native Stuffing
  • Green Bean Casserole
  • Green Salad with Maple Glazed Pecans and Pomegranate Pearls
  • Polenta Butternut Squash Terrine
  • Wheatberry Waldorf Salad
  • Cornbread
  • Pumpkin Cheesecake
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Beverage of your choice

And given the fact that the Chicago Bears are mercifully not playing that day we were able to digest just about everything without any ill effects (grin).

Before We Ate

We arrived early at the Wicker Park location and rode around bit getting a chance to take some pictures of the St. Mary of the Angels church and to view the school that is attached. Atop the sanctuary are some very impressive sculptures of angels that were the focus of today’s image making.

Afterwards we rolled over to Rapid Transit’s store in Wicker Park and took a look in the window at the three Brompton folders they have on display. Then it was on to the restaurant for the meal itself. We managed to get in a bit ahead of our 1:30 PM reservation time and sat down to a delightful vegan repast. There is a great deal to be said in finding a place where you can simply order anything you want off the menu and be assured that it is vegan-friendly.

We had a great meal and were simply stuffed as we left for the ride back to the van.
