Lots of riding options today. But we were up late last night and decided to stick close to home and not Kathy S. and company as they toured the South Side of Chicago. Instead we ate a leisurely breakfast at the Cantera Starbucks and then headed over to the Fox River Trail for a stress free Sunday ride.
The Batavia Municipal Parking lot was just about empty except for a single additional vehicle. We parked and got the bikes ready (installed their fairings) and began heading south towards Aurora. We had decided to ride a short 15 miles before returning to the van and riding into the city to Native Foods Cafe.
But on the way I spotted the RoundHouse restaurant across the river and wondered if there would be any chance that visiting it would be possible. We took a look at their menu online via our iPhones and decided that with at least two vegan offerings we should give the place a try.
This is the newest of the restaurants opened by the Two Brothers Brewery. Gabe is now working this site having moved down here from the original location in Warrenville. This is what used to be the Walter Payton Roundhouse and is a very nice location. Huge place with outdoor seating in the center and a stage for performances on Friday and Saturday nights in the warmer weather.
I dined on the Vegan Enchiladas and Connie the Vegan Tacos. Even the salad I ordered was delicious! It was a real surprise! Nice find and we will be back! Even got a chance to gab a bit with Gabe and he seems quite happy with the new location and all of the rooms in the building for guests.
