Cultivate Festival 2012 – Chicago’s Lincoln Park

Summary

Bison Outside Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum

Cultivate Festival reminded me a good deal of the Fat Tire Festival put on by New Belgium Brewing earlier this summer sans the odd-ball games that were part of the latter. Both are sponsored by businesses. Cultivate has as its main supporter Chipotle Mexican Grill.

With each the aim is to glorify the product while at the same time espousing an idea of a sustainable business model with local produced and purchased goods for making their products.

Our ride up was uneventful in that it was fairly straightforward with no real traffic issues. There was a bit of street closure going on for what I judged might have been a movie shoot. In fact on the way back we had a similar experience as we approached the Trump Towers. We were diverted onto a side walkway around the building across the street from the Trump Towers building. It was easy however to get back onto Wacker Drive and take it around to Clinton as we headed back to the van.

Out front of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum I spied a steel bison. A father and his children were taking pictures in front of it. Later as we headed home I got a snapshot of the Pipers Alley marquee on North Avenue. It is quite the throwback to days when Old Town was all the rage.

We may do Cultivate next year, but in the meantime we are enjoying the approach Fall Season’s weather.
