Following the issuance of the Firmware 1.11 update to the Nikon 1 V1 I have been trying to determine what if any changes in the general responses of the CX sensor have occurred as a result of a “fix” to prevent overexposure when the SB-N5 Speedlight is used in DIRECT mode (vs. BOUNCE mode). It turns out that there appears to be a change to the natural light responses of the sensor as well as the flash responses.
Judge for yourself if these images have the same breadth of tonal range as those taken a month or more ago before the firmware change.
