Earlier this summer we rode the Windy 60 bicycle tour of the DeKalb, IL area. It included roads that passed by an area south of the I-88 corridor where wind farms had been installed.
These turbines are massive and yet have a delicate beauty that is winsome. I visited them again today with the idea of recording them with the Nikon 1 V1 camera. The images are largely made with the 30-110mm Nikkor lens. A very few were made with the 10-30mm Nikkor lens for that camera.
In addition I took video clips that show the motions of the turbines. They are quite graceful to watch. I have read that you can actually turn them by hand which is a tribute to their manufacture and extremely well balance design.
